Hello! I'm a ginger lady who writes stories about magical worlds and morbid teens and Tolstoy-inspired web series.
I write Middle Grade novels as K.E. Ormsbee. THE WATER AND THE WILD is a portal fantasy trilogy. THE HOUSE IN POPLAR WOOD, a standalone folk mystery, was published by Chronicle Books in Fall 2018. THE SARDINES OF STRANGE STREET, a Spielberg-inspired tale, comes out from Disney-Hyperion in Fall 2019.
I write Young Adult novels as Kathryn Ormsbee. Titles out now: LUCKY FEW (Harold & Maude + homeschooling) and TASH HEARTS TOLSTOY (LIW web series + ace rep). THE GREAT UNKNOWABLE END, a 1977 Twilight Zone-inspired romp, comes out Spring 2019 from Simon & Schuster BFYR.
I was born and raised in the Bluegrass State. Then I went off and lived in places across the pond, like England and Spain, where I pretended I was a French ingénue. Just kidding! That only happened once. Now I live in my very favorite US city, Austin, TX.
In my wild, early years, I taught English as a Foreign Language, interned with a film society, and traveled here and there. My crowning achievement is that the back of my head was in an iPhone commercial, and people actually paid me money for it.
I like clothes from the 60s, music from the 70s, and movies from the 80s. I am from the 90s.
